Y2K fears unfounded  Towards the middle of 1998, I published to my web site a section on Y2K.  My comments were "Non event, Hype and a money making opportunity.  During the first week of Jan. 2000, a lot of "Feed the Hungry Ministries" would be birthed. . Article USA Today 1/4/2000, reported ... What to do with Y2K stockpiles? MINNEAPOLIS - There's a feel-good solution for those who prepared for the Y2K worst and are now stuck with stockpiles of Spam, canned soups, cereal and pasta: Pantries that serve the poor are eager to take that food off your hands. America's Second Harvest, which helps supply 50,000 local charities, on Monday announced ''Y Go 2 Waste,'' a national food drive to encourage people to donate their surplus canned and packaged foods. Second Harvest food banks across the country will be conducting drives from Jan. 15 through Feb. 15. Officials at several food banks across the country report that they have not seen any increase in donations. Some say many people may be hanging on to their supplies in case of winter storms - or waiting to make sure the Y2K threat has truly passed. Also ... World back at work with few delays The first major business day of the millennium opened with very few signs of Y2K computer glitches. Investors in Asia - the first region to open for work Monday - promptly sent two stock indexes in Hong Kong and Singapore soaring to new heights, while the day began smoothly in Europe. Though glitches did hit government computers in Hong Kong and mainland China, there were no reports of calamitous failures as feared. Executives at banks and stock markets around the world said their computers kept humming through the millennium rollover at midnight Friday, but there was still some apprehension heading into their first live test Monday.           . . . . . . . . . The sad thing is that so many people have been hindered spiritually and financially, because they believed the hype. So much time was wasted over the past three or four years.  People planning for doom and gloom instead of preaching the good news and getting people ready for eternity.  Many preachers made a lot of money  on the sale of books, tapes and videos. Businesses profited from  gullable and impresionable Christians.  I pray that this will be a lesson to the church to get away from hype and sensationlism and listen to the voice of God.  Get back to the simplicity that is in Christ,  and put our faith and trust in a great and merciful God. Let us put aside all the hype and serve the Lord with gladness, and believe what the Psalm 23 says "... goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house (or presence) of the Lord forever."  It is time for us to realize that ... " I have been young, and now am old, yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging for bread." Ps 37:25 Thank God, we can now bury the Y2K bug and get on with serving Jesus and reaching a lost and dying world with the Good News that Jesus saves, heals and gives life and life more abundantly..  God bless you all in YR2000    Y2K  - What happened on Jan 1, 2000
