During the last two weeks of November 1998, I had the priveledge of doing
a revival in Thunder Bay, Ont. Canada. Some evangelists have learnt how to
be led by the Holy Spirit to go to Florida during winter. But I found myself in
the snowy north in the teens F (-5c to -8c) The fire of the Holy Ghost was
burning strong in the frigid north.
The church had not been exposed to any of the revivals. The pastor had
been to 2 of my brothers meetings and had seen a few videos. But for the
rest it was pioneer territory. The first night the power of God hit the place
and folks literally fell into the river of God. It was so refreshing to see the
anointing touch so many for the first time.
People staggered out and some had to be carried home. The teenagers and
younger kids were a real blessing to watch. The pastors eight year old
daughter, wept and laughed intensely for at least two hours, totally
drenched in the Holy Ghost. The carpet was covered with bodies, many of
them teenagers and young people.
One of the highlights of the meetings, was the group of about 20 Native
Canadian Indians, who flew in for the meetings, at great cost, from Big
Trout Lake and Bear Skin Lake, near Hudson Bay, Ont. They were extremely
shy and reserved, as they had spent all their lives in the reserves up north.
Some of them could barely speak or understand english. But when the
power of the Holy Spirit touched them, it was like a mighty rushing wind.
The Holy Spirit knows how to reach people. His power is not limited by
language or culture. "I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh." Acts 2 They
just reached out and took what God had for them.
Not being accustomed to falling on the floor, they tried in vain to stand up,
but after staggering about, almost treading on each other, they eventually
colapsed to the floor. It was hilarious.
John 7:38 "If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink." Jesus said
come and drink, not come and think.
There are times He just wants us to enjoy his awesome glory without
understanding. When you witness people like the Big Trout and Bear Skin
Lake Indians, literally from the uttermost parts of the earth, receive so
easily, you realize how awesome God is. He loves people and wants to touch
them with His presence and power.
What a glorious time to be serving God. We are entering 1998 with great
anticipation and excitement. Having seen and participated in this great wave
of refreshing and blessing over the past 10 years, I cannot wait to see what
this coming year holds for us.
May your year be full of the blessing of the Lord, which makes rich and adds
no sorrow.
